The public is hereby informed of the following change in procedure for processing of employment contracts of directly hired workers, per Memorandum Circular No 08-2019 of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA):
“IV. All employers seeking exemption from the direct hire prohibition shall have the employment contract documents of their directly hired workers either verified by POLO or acknowledged by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over the jobsite.”
The process of acknowledgement replaces the attestation procedure of the Embassy. Kindly note that for acknowledgement of documents, personal appearance of either signatory of the contract (employer and/or employee) at the Embassy is required. Such contracts no longer need to be Apostillized or authenticated in the country of the jobsite. Employers and/or employees in Finland seeking to have their direct-hire employment contracts acknowledged may do so in person at the Philippine Consulate General in Helsinki. Those in Norway, Iceland, Sweden may have their direct-hire employment contracts acknowledged by the Philippine Embassy in Oslo.
