[English] Speech of President Aquino at the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan, April 9, 2014
We are firm in our belief that the lessons of the past should never be forgotten. During the Second World War, a misunderstanding occurred between our countries, and we are all witness to the grim consequences of this. Today, it is clear that we are friends and partners—understanding that we are fellow citizens of humanity, with our own goals and our own fears; capable of comprehending the thinking, culture, and principles of each one; and working together to achieve the collective aspirations of our countries. In this way, we can ensure that dark chapter of our history will not repeat itself.
Speech of President Aquino at the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan, April 9, 2014
Toast of President Aquino for the state luncheon in honor of President Tan of the Republic of Singapore
I am heartened by the discussions we conducted earlier, and I trust that this is a step forward in improving the synergies between our countries. As a friend and neighbor to Singapore, the Philippines believes that development between our two countries should not only proceed in parallel, but should be hand-in-hand. After all: it is through solidarity and cooperation that we will see the achievement of vast gains for both our peoples.
Statement of President Aquino during the state visit of President Tan of the Republic of Singapore
Indeed: Singapore is a true partner of the Philippines, and we are hopeful that this visit will give our countries more opportunities to deepen our engagement. On this note, may I wish President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his delegation a truly “fun” stay in the Philippines—especially since this is his first State Visit to our country. Whether in his further interactions with the Philippine business community, or in his visit to Basey, I am sure that the rest of his activities will be as meaningful and productive as our discussions today.
Speech of President Aquino at the Araw ng Parangal sa Kapulisan, April 1, 2014
Speech of President Aquino during the 35th commencement exercises of PNP Mandilaab Class
Speech of President Aquino at the FFCCCII 60th anniversary
It is my hope that, decades from now, organizations like yours will continue thinking of new ways to pursue our people’s shared prosperity. After all, it is through such dedication from each of our citizens that our country will ultimately achieve its collective goal: a society where each person has a role in nation-building; a country where no one is left behind; and a Philippines that stands as an example of how positive change is achieved.
Toast of President Aquino for the Merienda Cena in honor of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, March 27, 2014
This evening, we are gathered in shared achievement and optimism. I believe I speak not only for my government, but for all Filipinos in recognizing the tremendous personal initiative, risk, and leadership displayed by Your Excellency, which helped us to secure an inclusive and peaceful future for our countrymen in the Bangsamoro.
Speech of President Aquino during the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro
This is our vision for the Bangsamoro–and just as the Agreement we are signing today did not appear magically out of thin air, so too will our next steps have to involve the same trust and long-term thinking that brought us to this shared triumph. At this point, the Bangsamoro Transition Commission is hard at work in drafting a Bangsamoro Basic Law that is equitable, practical, and empowering, and which serves the interests of the entire nation.
Speech of President Aquino at the 46th commencement exercises and 50th anniversary of Philippine Science High School
