OPAPP Secretary Dureza Conducts Peace Process Briefing with Filipino Community in Oslo

Secretary Dureza updated the Filipino community in Oslo on the various peace projects of OPAPP

22 June 2018, Oslo – Fresh from his participation in the Oslo Forum 2018, Philippine Presidential Adviser to the Peace Process Secretary Jesus Dureza had a town hall meeting with the Filipino community in Oslo, which was held at the Philippine Embassy, on 21 June 2018.

Secretary Dureza provided an overview of the status of the ongoing peace talks between the Philippine Government (GPH) and the National Democratic Front (NDF). He also presented updates on the peace situation in Mindanao, and the areas of cooperation between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The interest on the peace talks of Norway-based Filipinos stems not only from their concerns with what is going on in the Philippines, their home country, but also because Norway, which most consider their second home, plays the vital role of being a third-party facilitator to the peace negotiations.

Secretary Dureza inducted around 40 ‘Peace Ambassadors’ who are tasked to promote and raise awareness on the peace policies and projects of the Philippine government. He encouraged the Peace Ambassadors to continue to monitor, support, and correct misinformation on the GPH-NDF peace talks. END
