The Philippine Embassy, together with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC), is inviting all Filipinos in Norway, Denmark, and Iceland, as well as Friends of the Philippines to watch the live-streaming of Bayanihan ng Bayan: Anong Taya Mo Para sa Bayan (“Coming together for the Philippines: What Can You Give/Offer Your Country”) via from 24-28 January 2011 (Tuesday to Saturday) to learn about the various ways by which one can help and be of service to our fellow Filipinos in Northern Mindanao who are still picking up the pieces after the destruction wrought by Typhoon “Sendong” (international name “Washi) just days prior to the Christmas holidays last year.

Bayanihan ng Bayan is the Philippine government’s collective response, in the spirit of bayanihan, to the needs of our fellow Filipinos. Through house building and other activities participated in by volunteers, the Philippine government hopes to illustrate the various ways we can help the victims of the recent typhoon. Through this initiative, the Philippine government wishes to gather commitments from all over to help rebuild the devastated areas of Northern Mindanao.

His Excellency, Benigno S. Aquino III will grace the event by participating in activities, which include the Presidential Lunch and Caucus with Local Government Unit (LGU) heads, on 25 January. Other scheduled activities include the “Clean Up & Build the Iligan Highway and the Sta. Elena Relocation Site,” a feeding activity, and a concert & cultural presentation to help uplift the spirits of the victims, among other projects.
