Revised Guidelines for Au Pairs Bound for Norway and Denmark, as of 27 February 2012

DEFINITION OF TERMS:

  • Au Pair – the term used to describe a young Filipino citizen, between 18 and 30 years of age, unmarried and without any children, placed under a cultural exchange arrangements with a Norwegian or Danish host family for a maximum stay of two (2) years permitted by Norway’s or Denmark’s immigration authorities.
  • Au Pair scheme – under this scheme, the au pair is placed in immersion program in cultural and language learning in Norway or Denmark. He/She shall live with the host family at par (au pair) or on an equal basis with the immediate members of the host family, shall be given pocket money, share in child care, light household chores and responsibilities previously agreed upon in an au pair placement contract between the au pair and host family.
  • Host Family – shall refer to the family that the au pair will be living with for the duration of the au pair placement.

PAPERS OR DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR AU PAIRS BEFORE LEAVING THE PHILIPPINES:

For Norway

1. Attestation/Legalization by the Philippine Embassy in Oslo or the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Stavanger of the following:

a. An original, signed by the host family Standard Contract for Au Pairs in the English language prescribed by Norway’s Immigration Directorate. http://www.udi.no/Global/UPLOAD/Skjema/OppholdArbeid/TilbudKontrakt/GP70...

b. An original, signed by the host family Rights and Obligations document in the English language for au pair and host family as prescribed by Norway’s Immigration Directorate. http://www.udiregelverk.no/~/media/Images/Rettskilder/Rundskriv/RS%20201...

c. Copy each of the passport of the parties involved in the au pair placement – host father, host mother and au pair.

2. The host family sends documents listed in #1 to the au pair in the Philippines. After the au pair receives the Attested/Legalized documents from the host family in Norway, the au pair goes to the Norwegian Embassy in Makati, Metro Manila to apply for visa, bringing the Attested documents listed in #1.

3. After the au pair visa is granted, the au pair goes to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) to attend a Country Familiarization Seminar (CFS). The CFS fee is paid by the host family. Proof of attendance is indicated by the CFS sticker issued by the CFO and affixed to the au pair’s passport. The CFS fee will exempt the au pair from paying Philippine travel tax and airport terminal fee.

As of 1 March 2012, CFS for Europe bound Au Pair is conducted only In Manila at:

For Denmark:

1. Attestation/Legalization by the Philippine Embassy in Oslo or the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Copenhagen of the following:

a. An original, signed by the host family AU1 form for Au Pairs prescribed by Denmark’s Immigration Directorate. http://www.nyidanmark.dk/NR/rdonlyres/F344C475-EBA3-4711-B782-F6A5785E50...

b. Copy each of the passport of the parties named in the AU1 form involved in the au pair placement – host father, host mother and au pair.

2. The host family sends documents listed in #1 to the au pair in the Philippines. After the au pair receives the Attested/Legalized documents from the host family in Denmark, the au pair goes to the Norwegian Embassy in Makati, Metro Manila to apply for visa, bringing the Attested documents listed in #1. The Norwegian Embassy in Makati handles the visa applications of Filipino au pairs going to Denmark.
