The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently released the following updated guidelines for NBI clearance applications:
- Applicants are advised not to trust any private agency purporting to be authorized to conduct the processing of NBI Clearance applications as the NBI has not authorized any private agency to do this service on its behalf.
- When abroad, applicants for NBI clearance are required to proceed to the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate General for NBI Form No. 5 to be stamped/sealed by Post after it has been duly accomplished by the applicant.
- For applicants based overseas, NBI may accept fingerprint impressions taken in a Police Station as long as the name of the office and the officer who conducted the fingerprinting are stamped on the space provided, complete with the designation of the officer and duly signed by said officer(s). The stamp or seal of the offices mentioned must be affixed to confirm the validity and truthfulness of the application form.
