Members of Filipino Communities in Norway welcome RP’s new envoy
Along with their warm welcome, the members of the Filipino organizations pledged their all-out support to the projects and initiatives of the Embassy in the same way that they lent their support to former Ambassador Victoria Bataclan.
Amb. Buensuceso thanked the members present for their open expression of support and vowed to work hard to uplift the welfare and image of Filipinos working and living in Norway. She noted that the extraordinary cheer and enthusiasm of her countrymen was warm enough to thaw the sub-zero temperatures that greeted the Ambassador and her family upon arrival in Norway.
Also on hand to receive the Filipino community members were the officers and staff of the embassy, together with their family members.
Ambassador Buensuceso arrived in Oslo on 11 December 2008 after having served a term of four years as Ambassador of the Philippines to the Lao PDR. A magna cum laude AB English graduate from the University of the East (UE), she took her Master’s degree in English in UE and in Asian Studies from the University of the Philippines (UP). She has been with the Foreign Service for 28 years now and has served in various capacities in Hong Kong, Singapore, Belgium, the People’s Republic of China and Laos.
These and her various stints in the Home Office have exposed her to ASEAN, Chinese and European affairs. She proudly calls herself an Ambassador of Christ. Wherever the Lord brings her, she peppers her messages with bib-lical truths and exhortations.
The welcoming event was featured in the 28 December edition of The Filipino Channel. In said program, Ambassador Buensuceso was quoted to have vowed to work doubly hard in the service of her country in the three countries under her jurisdiction. The Cabalen group, led by Ms. Nene Puyat, was also quoted by TFC as being proud to have a Cabalen for an Ambassador.
The new Ambassador readily plunged into a series of Christmas parties and other social and religious functions in order for her to get to know her countrymen better. She attended the Christmas Party/Birthday celebration held in honor of Luz Bergersen at the Sacred Heart Lillestrøm under the able leadership of Elvira Tolentino. She also exhorted members of the Jesus is Lord and Living Word Christian groups based in Oslo to coordinate all activities with other religious groups. The officers and members of the Naic group had her as their guest of honor during their 20th Anniversary celebration held on 20 December.
