Filcom Norway in Oslo celebrates 119th Philippine Independence Day

17 Jun, Oslo – Filcom Norway hosted the Fiesta Filipino celebration of Philippine Independence Day at Youngstorget in Oslo, Norway. Youngstorget is a major plaza in the city center of Oslo. Celebrating with Filcom Norway and the Philippine Embassy in Oslo were Filipino communities from outside Oslo, namely, Igorot Norway, Bayanihan Greenland and Jesus is Lord (JIL), Norway Chapter.

The Fiesta Filipino kicked off with a parade around the venue participated by the events’ major sponsors. The Philippine Embassy personnel led the parade and the singing of the Philippine national anthem. During the program, Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. Maria Elena P. Algabre delivered the Independence Day Message of H.E. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Modern and classical Filipino songs and dances were also presented.

Throughout the day, plenty of booths sold popular Filipino food such as sisig, empanada and lechon. In addition to Filipinos in Norway, Norwegians and tourists who passed by observed the celebration and sampled Filipino food.

The Philippine Embassy booth gave out Oishi products and tourism brochures. Mama Sita products were also given as prize to the participants who gave correct answers on questions related to Philippine Independence.
