Bangus, Century Tuna, Canned Pineapple and other Philippine Products soon to be available in Norway
The Philippine Embassy in Oslo announced that well-loved Philippine favorites such as bangus, Century Tuna, Dole pineapple, canned mangoes, sugpo, and many other quality products will soon be made available at their favorite Asian supermarkets located in Trondheimsveien, Brugata, and other groceries all over Norway. The products would also be distributed to shops in Bergen and Stavanger. Non-food products such as materials for manicure and pedicure, entertainment publications and beauty products will also become available.
Thanks to the unrelenting efforts of Mr. Thomas Medina, President and CEO of Brandexports Inc., Mr. Alfredo Mercado, Chairman, of the same company, and Trade Representative Mary Hedfors who visited various Asian supermarkets based in Oslo, these products will soon be shipped, as early as mid-November, direct from the Philippines to Norway. Mr. Medina and Mr. Mercado received enthusiastic responses from their Norwegian business partners who immediately placed orders of several containers from the Philippines. They met with at least five supermarket owners and wholesale distributors, including, Norges Gruppen which is Norway’s largest enterprise with focus on retailing and wholesaling.
The two businessmen represent big-name suppliers and manufacturers in the Philippines such as Dole Pineapple, Pro Food and Century Tuna. They have been supplying Philppine products in America, the EU and the Middle East where there is a huge concentration of overseas Filipinos. Although the number of Pinoys in Scandinavia is small compared to those in the other regions of the world, they were pleasantly surprised with the positive response from the importers and distributors in Norway with whom they held meetings, with the assistance of the Philippine Embassy
