The Oslo Music Academy under the direction of Drs. Haakon and Martha Smith and the Filipino Christian Church under Pastor John Angeles held a successful concert on 19 December at the Filadelfia Storesalen, for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Pepeng.
The Pasko ng Bayan celebration held at the Storesalen on 12 December was a smashing success by any standard, according to Philippine Ambassador to Norway Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, guest of honor Mayor Tore Opdal Hansen of Drammen and many other special guests during the event. The Ambassador commended the officers and members of the Filipino Working Group of Norway for the excellent organization of the event.
Christmas happens only once a year but in the Department of Foreign Afiairs, we strive to bring a sense of Christmas to people we serve every single day.
We bring intangible gifts for the Filipino people - courage, patriotism and selfless service.
Our foreign service officers and employees continue to fight for our national interests. They tirelessly defend and protect the rights of our Filipino migrants and overseas workers. They uplift the image of the Philippines in-order to bring economic opportunities home.
My dearest Kababayans in Norway, Denmark and Iceland
Christmas is once again upon us. Last year, I spoke to you about what i consider to be the real meaning of Christmas; that it is the celebration of a promise fulfilled, of the coming of the Savior, Jesus Christ. It means that as Christians, we should commit to living a life that is Christ-like, characterized by humility, sacrifice and love. The fruit of such life is joy, peace, and the grace of our Lord.
